Dr. Paul Roberts
Dr. Paul Roberts is a graduate of Nantucket High School Class of 1973, Cape Cod Community College in 1975, UMass Amherst in 1977 and NYU College of Dentistry in 1982. He also attended Bronx Municipal Hospital for his General Practice Residency in 1983. Paul was born and raised on Nantucket Island and always planned to return to the Island after graduating from dental school. He started his practice with the help of the Nantucket Cottage Hospital in the Fall of 1983 and is now into his 37th year of dentistry. Paul and his wife Margaret have two children and seven grandchildren. Their son Matthew and his wife Jamie are also dentists who joined his practice in 2015.
Dr. Matthew Roberts
Dr. Matthew Roberts has lived on Nantucket his whole life with the exception of a brief hiatus for College, Dental School and time served in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps. He was even a member of the Wee Whalers Class of 1987. Matthew graduated from Nantucket High School in the Class of 2000 and graduated from Denison University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He entered Tufts University School of Dental Medicine after being awarded a full scholarship from the U.S. Navy. Matt was seated next to Jamie (the future Mrs. Doctor Roberts) on orientation day at Tufts and from that point forward she could not get rid of him.
They got married in 2009, graduated Tufts in 2010 and began the next chapter in their lives. They had Hayden, the first of 5 children during Matt’s Navy AEGD Residency in 2010, he was followed by Ellis, Delaney, Arleigh Jolene and Silas over the next seven years. The Navy took Matt to Great Lakes, IL for Residency. He then became the Dental Department head on the USS Carter Hall (LSD 50) out of Little Creek, VA where he took part in an Amphibious Middle Eastern deployment during which he time he earned his Surface Warfare Medical Department Officer Qualification and the Navy Commendation Medal.
Matt finished his activity duty time with the Navy back in Great Lakes. In 2015 he transferred to the Navy Reserves, where he served another 4 years, and moved his family home to Nantucket. He and Jamie joined Paul’s practice at 2 Amelia Drive. The family acclimated to Island life well; they were born to be Whalers. In 2017 Matt completed a fellowship with the International Dental Implant Association and in 2019 he completed his Mastership with the organization. He attended 3 humanitarian trips to the Dominican Republic with IDIA performing free implants and surgical procedures.
When not working, Matt leads 2 Cub Scout Dens and coaches boys’ club football and basketball. He is an avid shell fisherman all year round and loves to fish, boat, beach and his new favorite is scuba diving. His most favorite thing to do is spend time with Jamie and his 5 kids.
Dr. Jamie Roberts
Dr. Jamie Roberts is an Indiana native who graduated from Indiana University with her Bachelor Degree and Indiana University-Purdue University with a Master Degree in Biology. She then went on to attend Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Jamie serves as co-chair on the Women and Children’s Health Sector for Nantucket Cottage Hospitals’ Healthy Nantucket 2020.
